Acrylic Consistency*＊☆(°∀°)

I have been asked lots of questions
about consistency of Acrylic Mixture lately,
and finally I have prepared some photos to show!!

Here are the things I use...
 
Acrylic Natural Colour Powder,


Acrylic Colour Powders,


Monomer( Acrylic Liquid),



and Acrylic Nail Brushes.

(Please use acrylic products in a well ventilated room!!)


1. Dip and soak the brush
in acrylic liquid,

and remove the excess liquid by
stroking the wall of the dappen dish only once or twice.
( Keep enough liquid within the brush as well)


2. Pick acrylic powder by
lightly touching the surface of the powder
with one side of the brush.




☆-Examples of Consistency for Sculpture & Overlay-☆


Too Dry
There is not enough liquid in the brush.



Too Runny
If there is too much liquid in the brush
after picking powder,
let a paper towel absorb the excess liquid
by just placing the brush onto the paper.



Good Consistency
A little bit bumpy but mainly wet.

3. Place the mixture onto the nail.
It becomes soft and smooth looking by this time.



4. Push and stroke the mixture with 〇 part of the brush to make it flat.



Then shape the top and the sides.




Ok!!
Let's change the brush and try acrylic nail art(^o^)/


1. Dip and soak the brush in the liquid.
And stroke the wall of dappen dish for a few times.



2. Pick the powder by just touching the surface of the powder
with the tip of the brush.




☆-Examples of Consistency for Acrylic Nail Art-☆


Too Dry
Very powdery around the mixture.
It makes a big mess on the nail!! ha ha!!



Too Runny
You can remove excess liquid from the brush by
placing the brush onto a paper towel.

It's still too wet...
It becomes flat on the nail.



Good Consistency
A little bit bumpy is ok!!
It'll become smooth by the time you put it onto the nail.

will make you perfect doing acrylics p(^o^)q

My favourite team is called the CATS, Geelong Football Club!!
And we went to see one of their games

I think people often catch a cold in between seasons.
Yes, I had one already(^-^)v

This is Basic Manicure No.2,
and I'd like to show you how to apply nail polish properly☆

Things to use!!
 
From left,
Base Coat, Nail Polish, and Top Coat.
 

Please use base coat to avoid staining
your nails with colour nail polish.

Apply a tiny amount of base coat on
the edge of the nails.


Apply from the middle,
without touching the cuticle.


Apply on the sides,
drawing the cuticle line with a corner of the brush.


These are the steps I would like you to follow
when you are polishing as well(^-^)q

☆----------------------------------------------------------☆

Let's practice on paper first
to get a better understanding!!

When you mix the nail polish,
please never shake the bottle up and down(^-^;
(It'll create bubbles in the polish)

Hold the bottle between your hands and gently
roll it backwards and forwards.
(This will warm the polish up and mix it better)


Ok!

First, pick nail polish(quite a lot) and place
just before the cuticle line.


 Push the brush forward
until the nail polish(not the brush) touches the line.

You're using a good characteristic of liquid.
Liquids naturally try to shape ROUND,
so you can use the shape to create
a good round cuticle line（°∀°）yaaaay!!

Pull the brush quickly to polish the middle section.


Using the excess polish left on the starting point,
draw a half of the cuticle line.
Again, using a corner of the brush.


Pull the brush straight up,
drawing a straight line on the side wall.


Draw the other half of the cuticle line,
using a corner of the brush.
 

Still using a corner,
draw a nice straight side wall line.


Then make the surface smooth with a few strokes.


I hope these steps were understandable for you.

Shall we try the steps on the nails??

Please apply a tiny amount of nail polish on the edge of the nails
before start(^-^)v

Place nail polish just before the cuticle line.


Push the brush forward to create a nice round cuticle line.

Try to keep a tiny small gap between polish and the cuticle line.
(people often say the width of this gap is like the width of a hair)


Pull the brush straight.


Draw a cuticle line using a corner of the brush,
and move the brush straight up.
 

Again,
Draw the cuticle line and the sidewall line with a corner of the brush.
 

Make the surface nice and smooth
with just a few strokes.


Apply 2nd coat after polishing all the fingernails.


Correct any colouring on the skin
using a small amount of cotton wool and an orange wood stick.


Apply top coat and...
COMPLETED!!!!

Can you see the cuticle line is nice and round
without colouring on the skin??
( I took too long to take photos, so the surface is not that perfect...sorry)

I'd like to talk a little bit about the small but basic parts of manicure.

They are usually learnt at the very beginning,
but could be forgotten as you get used of doing lots of manicures.


Today is about filing and cuticle care.

OK!! Things to prepare...


An orange wood stick with a little fluff of cotton on the end
and a piece of cotton round,



nail polish remover,



an emery board (top) and a 3 way buffer (bottom),
 


and a cuticle knife!




Let's start from filing p(^-^)q


When you file down your nail,
please make sure you move the emery board
ONLY in one direction
to avoid damage to the nail.

And try to touch the entire end part of the nail
with the board.


It looks like this from the side.

Can you see the entire end of the nail is touching the board?



Now, let's make the underneath of the sidewalls straight!!


Same as when you're filing the free edge(the end part of the nails),
please move the board only in one direction,
the direction of the nail growth...


Top view.
(Try not to push the board under the free edge too much.)



And then,
make the sharp corners,
that are created from filing the free edge and sidewalls,
nice and round.




I found that some people have trouble
getting rid of the tiny, thin layer of the nail when filing,
and keep filing and make the nail too short eventually...




Here is a good idea!
You can use the 1st or 2nd roughest part of the 3 way buffer
to gently remove those loose layers of the nail.

Same again, please move the buffer only in one direction.



Now, let's make all free edges nice and smooth,
the nails start catching some fabrics without this(^-^)v

Gently move 3way buffer in one direction,
 touching just the very end of the free edge.




Before you dust off, let's clean up some
loose skin around the cuticle(where the nails are coming out from).

Can you see the little white bit attached to the cuticle line??

That is only thing we're going to remove.
Please control the pressure since these areas
are not wet and soft (like when you do every procedure from soaking).


Move the cuticle knife from the middle of the cuticle line to the outside,
using only the corner of the knife.



On the other side as well...

The reason why you use only the corner of the knife is
to avoid scratching the surface of the nail with the other part of the knife.

Well done!!

Please remove all the dust with a piece of cotton round
soaked with nail polish remover.
